I'll never forget the special moment when I entered the beautiful Beit Knesset in my Petach Tikva neighborhood to daven Mincha on my way to a business meeting, and my eyes caught the magnificent Parochet covering the Aron Kodesh. The Parochet, purchased by the devoted gabbai Reuven Shkolnik sheyichyeh, blended in perfect harmony with the Aron's design and the Beit Knesset's character.
I remember very well the meticulous process I went through with Reuven in choosing the veil - the in-depth research we did to find the most suitable model, the discussions about the characteristics of the community and the style of the synagogue, and the deliberations about shades, textures and design. Reuven listened patiently and cooperated fully, and together we managed to create a parochet that is an impressive landmark in the synagogue.
When I first saw the beautiful Parochet hanging on the Aron HaKodesh, I understood that all the effort was worth it. It was a moving and tangible experience for me, strengthening the understanding of how important the right process is in choosing such central items. I was very happy to see that we were meticulous together in a serious and thorough process, and that the client internalized the importance of things. The perfect result achieved speaks for itself.
Masoret V'Chadashnut B'Itzuv HaParochet L'Aron HaKodesh (Tradition and Innovation in Aron Kodesh Parochet Design)
There are several main styles in the design of vestments for the Holy Ark, which are divided into two main categories - rich and complex designs on the one hand, and minimalist and simple designs on the other.
In the category of rich designs you can find examples that draw from different worlds of content - such as models of the temple, the Western Wall, the Menorah of the Mishkan, the scrolls of the gates and more. These dresses are characterized by an abundance of details, decorations, embroideries and spectacular decorations.
On the other hand, in the minimalist style you can find simpler and cleaner designs, such as frochus with a central verse, calligraphy or a modern graphic pattern. These fringes emphasize clean lines and the clarity of the message.
Each style expresses the unique character of the kehillah and the spiritual meaning it seeks to convey through the parochet. For example, parachot in the "flame" style symbolize spiritual passion and fire - there are louder and richer versions of this style, and there are more understated versions that touch the heart in a different way.
For some of the worshipers, the parochet evokes nostalgic memories of their childhood and their parents' synagogue. It is a connecting link to the past, and at the same time expresses the spiritual needs of the community in the present. The veil can reflect tradition and therefore also connect the generations.
Art within reach - parochots for the Holy Ark at an appropriate price
Parochet for the Holy Ark is first and foremost a meticulous work of art. As with any art product, there are unique dresses that are sold individually at a higher price, and there are more standard dresses that are sold in volume and at a more reasonable price.
At Matanya, we strive to bridge the two worlds - to take favorite models and produce unique boutique dresses from them, at a relatively affordable price. We are careful about an informed choice of the raw materials, a careful combination of shades and a high level of artistry and professionalism in sewing.
We choose the fabrics for the frills only after many attempts, to ensure stability and durability over time. The threads are carefully selected from thousands of shades, with an exact match to the shade of the fabric and an optimal combination between the colors. Through many years of experience we have learned which threads are more durable and which are less durable, and we use high-quality sewing threads especially for the gold shades.
The result is a quality, unique, and durable Parochet that lasts for many years, at a fair and relatively accessible price. Attention to small details turns every Parochet from Matanya into an equivalent work of art suitable for every soul.
Meticulous production process: this is how Matanya frills are created
The Parochet manufacturing process begins with preparing complex digital planning files, including precise details of all sewing segments, sewing directions, and thread replacement order. The skilled operator is responsible for replacing sewing threads in different colors according to the plan, while following the process with high concentration and threading the machine needle with delicate handwork.
In some of the more complex models, we combine several different fabrics in a process known as "appliqué", which creates a unique and rich texture. In addition, in some models we add filling between the layers to create a three-dimensional feeling and volume.
After completing the central embroidery stitching, we sew the Kaporet, usually with a pasuk or special decoration. Finally, we sew lining to the Parochet and Kaporet, add ribbons and fringes, and perform thorough finishing and cleaning. The completed Parochet is carefully folded and packed in a branded Matanyah bag.
Thus, through a precise and skillful process and a combination of high-quality raw materials, each parochet becomes a unique and high-quality work of art.
Choosing the Right Parochet
The Right Choice of Parochet for the Aron HaKodesh Begins with a Deep Understanding of the Community's Character and Unique Needs. Matanyah's Consultants Conduct Comprehensive Discussions with the Client to Understand the Synagogue's Characteristics, Age of Mispallelim, Sector and Tradition.
Based on this data, we recommend the most suitable Parochet style and design. For example, for a joyous and lively Chassidic kehillah, we'll select a rich and colorful design with ornaments, crowns, and Swarovski stones. For a traditional Sephardic kehillah, the Beit HaMikdash design is suitable, while for a more modern kehillah, we'll choose an abstract or contemporary design.
During the selection process, we emphasize conveying important spiritual messages and values to the kehilla through the symbols and details in the parochet. The result is a unique and personal parochet that represents the spirit of the kehilla.
The process begins with a personal meeting with community representatives, where we ask questions such as: What are the values and traditions that are important to you? What symbolic elements do you want to highlight? Are there any favorite colors, styles or images?
After that, we visit the Beit Knesset to assess the space, learn about the kehilla's character and understand what best suits the atmosphere. We photograph and measure the Aron Hakodesh to plan the parochet precisely.
In the next step, we present several design options in initial sketches, and then in computer simulations. Together with the community we carry out a process of focusing and improving the design, until reaching the perfect look for them.
Throughout the process, we emphasize close communication and full partnership with the community, so that the parochet faithfully reflects its values and needs.
An exceptional customer experience in Matanya
As a condition, we consider the sale of a parochet not only a one-time transaction, but part of a broader mission to connect the worshiper to the synagogue and the community. That's why we place special emphasis on personal and tailored support of the customers in all stages of the process.
It all begins with an in-depth characterization meeting, where we get to know the kehilla, listen to the needs, and together formulate the vision for the perfect parochet. We then guide the process with innovative digital tools, such as 3D renderings of the parochet on your unique Aron Hakodesh.
At every stage of the way, customers have maximum access to information and high transparency regarding project progress. The goal is not just to sell a Parochet, but to create an enjoyable and meaningful purchasing and accompaniment experience for the customer.
A quality that preserves the beauty for generations: the secret of the long shelf life of parochet Matanya
Quality Parochet (Torah Ark curtain) is made to last many years and maintain its beauty without wrinkles or sagging. The quality is determined by several critical factors:
First, the quality of the fabric. High-quality fabric is more stable and durable, and prevents the tissue from shrinking or wrinkling.
Second, the quality of sewing and threads. Professional stitching and durable threads maintain the Parochet's strength for years.
Shlishit, the quality of embroidery and design. Complex embroidery requires high skill to prevent fabric shrinkage. Proper design will enhance the Parochet's beauty.
And finally, the experience of the company. An experienced company with years of knowledge in the field will guarantee a quality parochet.
Therefore, it's worthwhile to invest more initially and receive a quality Parochet that will remain beautiful and durable for many years.
